Beauty of the World Competition 2010 has begun, with the competition committee selecting women who are both "beautiful and clever". Ma Yongmei, chairperson of the committee, is also the third-prize winner of 2003 Miss Intercontinental. At the opening party of the event, she said she believed that a beauty-selection event should pay more attention to women's inner beauty.
"Beauty is not superficial. It also lies in women's independence, cleverness and career," she said.
Beauty of the World is considered one of the major beauty-selection competitions besides Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss International. Established in 2007, the event invites judges from headhunting companies, fashion magazines, and photography agencies, to provide wider career opportunities for the participants.
