Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is situated in the west of south China, facing North Bay in the south, with Nanning as its provincial seat. In the 10th five year plan period, the region has increased highway mileage by 8,412 kilometers, completed the road corridor outbound to the sea and across the southwest and made progress on the construction of outbound corridors to Yunnan, Guizhou, Hunan and Guangdong, as well as to Vietnam. Thirteen new port berths were constructed and the handling capability was increased by 8.64 million tons in the 10th five year plan period. The inland river shipping has met the objective of the 1000-tonnage-class waterway running through from Nanning to Guangzhou.
