A candidate plays Chinese seven-stringed zither during a music instrument playing competition organized by China's Central Television in 2009. The ancient music, entitled “Pounding the Clothes”, was created in Tang Dynasty (618-907). It tells a story of a woman missing her husband, who was forced to leave home and defend the country against invasion, as she washed clothes by pounding on the rocks near the stream.
