MAC teams up with Barbie

MAC Cosmetics is teaming up with toy company Mattel to launch a line of Barbie inspired cosmetics, complete with limited-edition MAC Barbie doll. The kitschy Barbie colour cosmetics line will be available from March as part of their spring colour collection.

The line consists of several shades of lipstick, glosses, eyeliners, shadows, blushes, nail polishes, mascara and make-up brushes. Not to mention a black and pink make-up bag.

This is the first time Barbie has been targeted for an adult audience.

Selected MAC stores will be temporarily transformed into Barbie bedroons and sales assistants will wear Barbie-themed t-shirts, according to Mediapost.

Mattel and MAC have also collaborated to produce a MAC Barbie.

James Gager, senior vice president of MAC said that the two companies "had more in common that you might expect," stressing that they were both creatively driven.

Gager went on to say that he was looking forward to "staging the beauty image of Barbie around the world" through the new launch.
