340 suspects for IPR violations arrested

From Jan. to May, Chinese procuratorial organs approved the arrest of 340
people suspected of intellectual property rights (IPR) violations, with 258 of
them prosecuted, up 58.9 percent and 20.6 percent year-on-year respectively, a
senior Chinese public prosecutor said here on Tuesday.
Moreover, the procuratorial organs approved the arrest of 882 suspects
involved in the production and marketing of fake and shoddy products from Jan.
to May, up 51.5 percent year-on-year, said Zhu Xiaoqing, vice procurator-general
of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, at a press conference held by the State
Council Information Office.
Zhu added that 844 of the suspects were prosecuted, up 45 percent over the
same period last year.
