Beijing to hold international fashion show in Tian'an Men Square

Top fashion designers from France, Italy, Denmark and other parts of the world will gather in Tian'an Men Square in Beijing on August 23 to present a fashion show together with Chinese counterparts, marking the beginning of the "2002 Vogue Beijing" campaign.

According to the organizer, it will be the first fashion show ever held in Tian'an Men Square, the heart of Beijing, Chinese capital. Three Chinese firms, including the China Garment Group Corporation, the China National Culture & Art Co, Ltd. and the Beijing Capital Tourism Group, are sponsoring the campaign.

The opening ceremony for the campaign will include the fashion show and other performances. More than 800 models and actors will attend the 3-hour ceremony. Sponsors hope that "2002 Vogue Beijing", like "Paris Fashion Week" and "New York Fashion Week", will be recognized internationally as "Beijing Fashion Week."

The ceremony will be held in the east side of the square, in front of the National Museum of Chinese History's west gate.
