Japan considers extending sanctions on DPRK for another year

TOKYO - Japan is considering extending sanctions on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), including a ban on vessels from DPRK calling at Japanese ports, for a further year, local media reported on Wednesday.

Sanctions, set to end on April 13, were put in place by Japan in July 2006 after the DPRK test-fired ballistic missiles. And Japan imposed a ban on imports from the country following it conducted a nuclear test in October 2006. And Sanctions have been renewed four times ever since.
