SHANGHAI - Chinese "grand slam" winner Lin Dan beats teammate Chen Long 2-0 in a badminton showpiece at the Superseries men's singles final stage on Sunday, claiming his fifth China Open crown.

The "Super Dan", as Lin is nicknamed among his fans, wasted six match points before overcoming teammate Chen Long 21-17, 26-24 to a fifth China Open victory in a row.

"Today's match was not as tough as yesterday," said Lin. "But I was too nervous in the end of the second game because I really wanted to finish it in straight games."

Lin knocked out Malaysian top seed Lee Chong Wei in Saturday's semifinals, but the head coach of Chinese team, Li Yongbo still was unhappy.

"The semifinal against Lee Chong Wei should have been a straight-game win(for Lin)," sai Li, who argued that the local audience's cheers inspired Lee to win the first game against Lin.

"(Some of the Chinese audience cheering for others) It's Ok to me. But it's true that we often meet unfriendly audience when we play abroad all these years," said Lin.

In women's singles, Wang Xin failed to continue her winning streak in BWF Super Series, as she retired due to a sprained knee from the women's singles final just fifteen minutes into the first game when fellow Chinese Wang Yihan was ahead 1812.

"I injured my right knee back in Hong Kong's final about a week ago. But I didn't want to give up the chance to win another tournament so I came here. But today, I couldn't hold on anymore," said Wang Xin, who already carved her name into history as she became the first female singles player to win three Super Series tournaments in a row after October's Denmark Open, France Open and last week's Hong Kong Open.

World No 1 Wang Xiaoli and Yu Yang of China completed a Grand Slam winning of all five Super Series titles when they overwhelmed compatriots Tang Jinhua and Xia Huan 21-11, 21-10 in the women's doubles finals.

Wang and Yu proved a class above their younger teammates, hitting 27 smash winners to win the duel in just 39 minutes. "We had never won the China Open before, so we really want it," Wang said at the post-match press conference.

World champions Zhang Nan/ Zhao Yunlei bombarded Joachim Fischer Nielsen/Christinna Pedersen of Denmark 21-11, 21-14 in mixed doubles final to record their second victory in six meetings against the Danes.

Zhao said that four straight losses before the Hong Kong Open have made them "even stronger".

In men's doubles final, the only non-Chinese affair in five discilpines, Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen became the second Danish pair to win at the China Open in this category, by brushing aside Ko Sung-hyun and Yoo Yeon-seong of South Korea 21-17, 21-13.
