Pudong to develop green, garden airport
More than 300 people participated in a volunteer tree-planting activity in Shanghai Pudong International Airport on March 12. At the same time, volunteers also promoted Tree-Planting Day in Terminal 2 and handed out flyers encouraging and explaining environmental protection.
The green area in Pudong Airport totals about 9.5 million square meters, including 2.5 million square meters of public green area and 7 million square meters of green area. The proportion of green area has reached 36.2 percent in the last decade. More than 150 kinds of plants have been planted in the airport.
Pudong Airport has invested a large amount of money to build a green landscape zone along the road leading to the airport. The green renovation project has been officially initiated with a planned green area of about 18,000 square meters.
