Special Report: Development of the Golden Triangle, Focus on Sanmenxia

The approval of the Shanxi-Shaanxi-Henan Yellow River Golden Triangle Regional Cooperation Plan by the State Council on March 31 ushered in great development opportunities for Sanmenxia, as well as the cities of Yuncheng, Linfen and Weinan, four cities in the Yellow River Golden Triangle.

Aimed at building the triangle into a new regional economic engine and a new model for cross-provincial cooperation, governments in Sanmenxia, Yuncheng, Linfen and Weinan have made great efforts to consolidate resources cross-provincially and establish suitable cooperation mechanisms.

After interviewing local authorities in the four cities, Sanmenxia Daily summarized efforts made in promoting regional cooperation and wrote a special report titled “Development of the Golden Triangle, Focus on Sanmenxia.”

The special report has six sub sections, covering cooperation in public service and police affairs, agricultural and industrial development, cultural integration and tourism promotion.

Sanmenxia and Yuncheng have worked out a cross-province medical insurance program on May 17, allowing residents with medical insurance to get their medical expenses reimbursed in public hospitals in both cities.

“It’s unbelievable! I’ve got my reimbursement of medical expenses in Sanmenxia Central Hospital after finishing the check-out procedures,” said Zhang Tieming, a resident with Yuncheng medical insurance, at the hospital in Sanmenxia on May 26.

“More and more people are benefiting from the medical cooperation as people from Yuncheng can enjoy medical insurance in Sanmenxia as well as their home city,” said Li Junjie, director of the Yuncheng Medical Insurance Center. From the computer system of the center, Li can get the information of people with Lucheng medical insurance hospitalized in Sanmenxia Central Hospital. The medical cooperation between Sanmenxia and Yuncheng was only one of the many public services that benefit peoples’ livelihood in Yellow River golden triangle areas.

In 1986, “Yellow River Golden Triangle Economic Coordinated Regions” were jointly established by Sanmenxia, Yuncheng and Weinan, which unveiled the prelude of “Yellow River Golden Triangle” cooperation.

From then on, the cities of Sanmenxia, Yuncheng, Linfen and Weinan have been promoting regional cooperation in education, employment, talent, social security, environmental management and other aspects to improve the livelihoods of people in golden triangle areas.
