I feel China badly missed its chance to promote typical Chinese quality products. Chinese tea, for example, has always been both a consumer and a cult product in China; it was discovered by the West in relatively recent time and it immediately became popular. Today you can drink Lipton's in China while Chinese up-market tea brands are largely ignored because it is only Chinese that buy them. I know there are Chinese teas that cost thousands of yuan for a jar. But I don't know many famous tea brands worth eulogizing. Would today's Chinese consumer generation be a good base to promote luxury teas and popularize them internationally?
