Shanxi University performs well at int'l math modeling contest

Students at Shanxi University achieved the best ever results in the university's history at an international mathematical modeling contest.
The 2016 Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) and Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (ICM), attracted 12,446 teams from 17 countries, including many famous universities from home and abroad
Four Shanxi University students won the "Meritorious Winner" first place prizes, 12 got the second prizes of an "Honorable Mention" and 13 contestants were granted the prizes of "Successful Participant".
Organized by the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Application (COMAP), the MCM/ICM Contest is the only international competition for mathematical modeling.
Many famous scientific institutes and enterprises regard it as an important means to evaluate students' ability.
The students competing are all well-trained in mathematics, computer and thesis writing. In addition, they should have a keen eye for innovation and be able to express their ideas fluently in English.
In order to train high quality students with novel ideas and multiple talents, Shanxi University has taken measures to encourage students to be involved in various technical contests in order to strengthen their ability in originality.
