The city of Datong, Shanxi province, had 124 investment projects worth 149.6 billion yuan ($24.4 billion dollars) by Aug 30, according to the city Investment Promotion Bureau.

Datong has campaigned hard in several cities this year, including Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Shenzhen, to promote its investment opportunities and its investment promotion delegates have established relations with more than 100 enterprises and have signed cooperation agreements with the Shanxi Chamber of Commerce in Beijing and Shenzhen.

There was a Solar Decathlon China in Datong, this past August, which was also an opportunity to look for investors. During that event, Shanxi's Chambers of Commerce in Beijing and Shenzhen and Fujian province’s Chamber of Commerce in Quanzhou, Fujian province, and other enterprises were invited to Datong resulting in several investment agreements, including a Quanzhou-Hunyuan granite project, Shanghai-Datong cooperation project, and a meat-production chain project.

Datong plans to expand its approach through internet resources and reorient its investment promotion to developed areas such as the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta. The city's industrial park plays an important role in this, and in its increased publicity.
