After nearly three years of construction, the first phase of the 52-kilometer Nantong-Yangkou Harbor Expressway began operation in early February.
The new 36.66-km road has a speed limit of 120 kilometers per hour and is a crucial part of Jiangsu province’s expressway network. Once the entire expressway is completed, it will reduce travel time from urban Nantong to Rudong county to half an hour and will take 45 minutes to get to and from Tongzhou.
The NETDA Free Trade Zone got the original go-ahead, on Jan 3, 2013, from the State Council, for a 5.29-sq-km area, in two parts.
