The company was established by the Pingdingshan branch of Henan Provincial Power Co. The company went through standardized shareholding reform in 2005 by integrating the quality assets of the former Pingdingshan Huachen Industry Group. It was renamed Pingdingshan Huachen Electric Power Group Co Ltd. The company has registered capital of 44 million yuan, gross assets of 226 million yuan and net assets of 49 million yuan.
Pingdingshan Huachen Electric Power Group Co. Ltd., with six subsidiaries and seven branches, is a group enterprise applying group-based management, operations and development. Its main business scopes cover power engineering design, power engineering construction, architectural engineering construction, electric equipment manufacturing, and electric materials supply and marketing.
The group has 376 electric engineering professional technicians, 16 senior engineers, 29 Grade 2 and above project managers, and 20 Grade 2 and above registered architects. In 2005, the group had 386.12 million yuan in operating revenues.
The group has 258 units of advanced equipment for electric power installation, testing and overhauling. It assumes the task of overhauling and maintaining power transmission and distribution equipment at plants operating at 500 kilovolts (kV) and lower in southwest Henan. It developed the country’s first-class technologies for 110kV-500kV power transmission line live-wire work, ADSS, OPGW cable construction and communications engineering construction, 110kV-500kV power transmission line live-wire fault monitoring and high-voltage cable line live-wire fault monitoring.
The group installs, debugs and maintains all advanced electric power equipment and protection facilities in the country. All secondary drawings are made with computers. Its electrical measuring instrument office won national Grade 2 certification. The group has a protection lab and instrument efficacy lab.
Over the past two decades, the group has completed 2,943 power transmission and distribution projects 10kV and above in size, including 211 220kV power transmission and distribution projects, 767 110kV power transmission and distribution projects, and 1,119 35kV power transmission and distribution projects. To date, the group assumes the task of maintaining 42 110KV and above transformer substations and 1,910KM 35KV and above power transmission lines in south Henan.
It also participated in constructing China’s first 500kV power transmission and distribution project. It worked with Japanese partners to build the country’s first dual ADSS and OPGW cable construction project. The group has won quality project titles for 95 percent of its large and medium-sized projects. For seven consecutive years, it has won the honorary title of Advanced Unit in the Henan power sector for diversified operations. In 2002, it passed ISO-9001 quality system authentication.
The group has improved safety basic management levels, elevated its safety work to scientific standards. All these lay a solid foundation for the group to maintain safety and stability in constructing power transmission and distribution projects and grid operations. The group’s motto is “long-term project, quality first”. It adheres to the operation principle of giving top priority to safety and quality.. By June 30, 2006, the group had realized 4,036 consecutive days of safe operations.
