Nanyang in Henan province was that site of a?square dancing?competition lasting 3 hours, as part of the National Fitness Day, where the finals on Aug 8 appeared on television, with local government officials and media representatives taking part.

The activity drew in 20 dance groups from 12 different districts in the city who had to go through a tryout before continuing on, and got a lot of attention from the audiences for their colorful costumes and performances.

Sponsors of the event were the local sports bureau and city media department, who said they hoped to promote healthier lifestyles and improve Nanyang sociality and civilization.

And it came to a perfect ending, with 8 of the contestants getting 1st prize awards, 12 taking 2nd prize, 12 getting individual honors and?three group awards.
