Guizhou released a development report on its high-tech industry on Sept 12, stating that it achieved an output value of 204.9 billion yuan ($29.92 billion) in the first half of the year, a 15.6% rise in year-on-year growth.
According to the report, Guiyang, Zunyi and Anshun ranked as the province's top three cities, with a total output value of high-tech industry of 55.9 billion yuan, 29.3 billion yuan and 22.9 billion yuan respectively. The top three regions by growth rate were Anshun, Tongren and Qianxinan, accounting for 92.1 percent, 42.7 percent and 41.8 percent respectively.
The top three industries in scale were equipment manufacturing, chemicals and pharmaceuticals and the special food industry, achieving an output value of 75.7 billion yuan, 28.1 billion yuan and 21.4 billion yuan respectively. Collectively, the three industries accounted for 79.18 percent of the province's high-tech industrial output.
Since 2015, the output value of Guizhou's high-tech industry has maintained an annual growth rate of over 20 percent. The output value of the high-tech industry in Guizhou has also increased from 221 billion yuan in 2014 to 397.8 billion yuan in 2017. Moreover, Guizou ranks 11th in China’s hi-tech industrialization index.
