Covering 40 hectares, Sanfangqixiang, Fuzhou has raised many of China’s historical figures.
Lin Zexu is most recognized for his conduct and his constant position of taking the "high moral ground" in fighting, as a "shepherd" of his people, against the opium trade. He was also the first to turn his eyes toward the greater world.
Shen Baozhen, Lin Zexu’s son-in-law, put the idea of equipping the country with a strong military force into practice.
Yanfu, apprentice of Shen Baozhen, adopted the “survival of the fittest” theory in public.
Fuzhou and Taiwan, forging a closer tie:
Fuzhou and Taiwan are close neighbors not only in terms of geographical location but also of their relationship.
Both have in common religion, festivals and customs. Direct flights and mail service close the distance. The annual Cross-Strait Economic Cooperation Forum gives both sides a place to exchange ideas on culture, economy and every part of social life.
