From now onwards, people of Pingtan origin can have a sense of belonging in Hong Kong, as the Pingtan Association of Hong Kong recently announced its opening in the area, local news portal reported on Feb 26.

Pingtan people who study, work or live in Hong Kong will be eligible to join the association.

According to some officials, the association is intended to enable outsiders to have a sense of belonging. It also expects to develop a better relationship between those people and promote mutual understanding as well as support.

The officials also explained that they wish to bring together more people of Pingtan background to contribute to the development of their hometown.
