Beijing gears up for anEaster feast with special treats for kidsE

The Hilton Beijing Wangfujing is going the extra mile to make Easter Sunday more than the usual fare of Easter buffet, egg painting and egg hunting.

According to Sun Young-moon, its food and beverage manager, a small garden on the hotel's fifth floor will have six live bunnies running around on April 24.

Besides, a 400-square-meter ballroom, with a bouncy castle, is also ready for kids to play Wii games on a big screen and enjoy a magic show.

Not that parents have been forgotten. The hearty buffet spread brings together three catering establishments on the fifth floor for the Sunday brunch. Guests can choose from Western food at Vasco's, or a Chinese buffet at Chynna, after or during which they can enjoy a drink at Flame bar, all for one price.

The highlight at Vasco's is Portuguese seafood, while Chynna offers an authentic Peking roast duck and quality picks of Chinese regional cuisines.

The special buffet for kids will be laid on lower tables, so they can grab their own eats.

According to Sun, Easter is a festival that is not just for expats in Beijing these days.

"In the past two years we have seen a lot of Chinese customers coming," she says. "The Chinese are also participating in and enjoying Western festivals."

Jaan, Raffle's Beijing French restaurant, is also organizing an Easter Sunday brunch. The fine-dining restaurant will have a sumptuous spread laid out beside its historic wooden dancing floor. The seafood corner will have Boston lobster, and each guest can choose from one of four main courses, including the eatery's signature grilled duck breast with foie gras.

According to chef Laia Pons Gonzalez, the restaurant's half-open space at one end, as well as a private room, will serve as the kids' corner. "Young pastry chefs" can decorate their own cupcakes with colored sugar made of ice, sugar and butter.

Jaan's elegant and refined environment promises a romantic dining experience. The restaurant is open to only 60 people at a time.

Regent Beijing's Daccapo Italian restaurant offers a casual family-style lunch on Sundays, and this will be open for Easter too. According to Italian chef Mario Cittadini, the most important meal of the week is a time for family to gather and enjoy good food.

On offer are fresh seafood salads, along with a cheese station with seven varieties of Italian cheese, and a salami station. A must-try is the eatery's lasagna and freshly baked pizza.

For an additional charge, guests can order an extra main course - a pasta or risotto such as tagliolini with black truffle and Italian sausages, pan-seared codfish, or pan-fried Australian sirloin.
