Dozens of years of training has made him a carpenter master in building wooden architecture of Dong ethnic style. He designed more than 100 stilted buildings, 12 shelter bridges, eight drum towers and over 30 pavilions. In 2016, Yang was recognized as inheritor of carpenter techniques of Dong wooden buildings.
