Former Australian prime minister Kevin Rudd rejected the "China collapse" theory on Wednesday and expressed optimism for the Chinese economy.

Speaking in Shanghai at the launch of his latest research report, "US-China 21: The Future of US-China Relations under Xi Jinping", Rudd said China's annual economic growth is forecast to be above 6 percent during the next decade, and China has enough fiscal and monetary policy tools to ensure annual growth above 6 percent.

Against a backdrop of economic slowdown, he said predictions of a China collapse have arisen, but he does not share that view.
