A man was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife during a quarrel in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, on Sunday.

The couple, in their early 30s, were living in a rented apartment in Pukou district, according to a report by Yangtze Evening News.

According to police, the man, a migrant worker from Anhui province, ignored his wife when she was arguing with him at midnight. The wife allegedly grabbed a fruit knife from the table, and stabbed him through the armpit into his heart by accident.

The wife called the hospital and police immediately. However, her husband was declared dead due to massive blood loss, the report said.

The woman has been detained by police for further investigation.
