Shaanxi province has launched an experimental project to set up zones and kindergartens for preschool education reform this month to prevent children of pre-school age doing primary school courses, Xi'an Evening News reported on Thursday.

According to the provincial education department, the experiment aims to explore ways and measures to implement the Learning and Development Guidelines for Children Aged 3 to 6, issued by the Ministry of Education.

The first phase of the experiment started in January and will run until to December 2015.

The second phase, for summarizing and promotion over the province, will start from January to December, 2016.

The province will choose three cities over the province as the provincial level experimental zones and choose five to 10 kindergartens in each zone.
