Pedro Wendler Director of the Brazil Pavilion

"Expo 2010 Shanghai has been an important turning point and a fitting end to the first decade of the 21st century, which has been marked by the rise of China as it takes a new place in the global economy. What makes this Expo unique is that the Expo Garden has the advantage of offering visitors contact with hundreds of different cultures, innovative public policies, and private technologies that provide a holistic view of how cities are going to be in the future.

The Expo Garden also reflects the landscape of international relations, which is an intense field for entrepreneurial, scientific, governmental and diplomatic activities. Therefore, the Expo provides a perception of what the next decades will be like in terms of geopolitical, business and research and development trends.

In this spirit, Brazil developed a pavilion with an amplified concept of the World Expo. It not only had a general visitors area, but also a whole range of programs, such as business rounds, investment seminars, thematic forums and activities that showcased Brazil's diverse and world-famous culture. It also showed our most advanced developments in science, technology, creative industries, agribusiness, aviation, mining and many other segments of Brazilian industries.

Finally, it is important to recognize that the Expo has taken place in one of the most important metropolises in the world: Shanghai. This city has also been at the epicenter of world affairs throughout its history, and has always proven capable of reinventing itself, renewing its urban areas, and presenting itself to the world as the 'Pearl of the Orient'.

We thank China, the people of Shanghai and the Bureau of Expo 2010 for offering the world this unforgettable meeting of nations."
