Hong Kong is mainlanders' top choice for New Year travel

Nearly half of mainland people interviewed in a Visa survey picked Hong Kong as their primary choice for spending the Chinese New Year holiday overseas.

Findings of the Visa and PATA travel survey showed that 45 percent of respondents said Hong Kong is the most appealing overseas destination.

The online survey asked 5,554 respondents from 11 key Asia Pacific travel source markets about past and future travel plans. For each market, respondents were Internet users, aged 18 years or above, had traveled for holidays in the past two years or have the intention to do so in 2009 or 2010.
