A real journey to the West

Liu Xiao Ling Tong, who comes from a family of actors specialized in portraying monkeys, has always wanted to shoot Journey to the West into a film.

He was offered several chances in the past, but turned them all down due to different ideologies in storytelling.

Now, the cooperation with Paramount Pictures seems to be the best choice that's ever been laid in front of him.

"This is for better distribution. Otherwise, Journey to the West may not be accepted easily by foreign viewers and we will not be able to tell the story to the world," said the veteran actor.

Moore, who has worked with Chinese filmmakers in Transformers: Age of Extinction that pocketed 1.98 billion yuan in ticket sales ($31 million), said the story of Journey is very magical and suited for applying today's modern technology.

"We will use the special effects techniques in the Transformers series, Captain America: Civil War and Terminator series to serve this film," Moore said.
