"Based on the current pace of our country's economic development, even if it's as low as 6 percent GDP growth per year, China could have a work shift mechanism that enables people to work four days a week and rest the other three by 2030."

Wang Qiyan, a professor of leisure economy at Renmin University of China, told Yanzhao Metropolis Daily on Sunday. Wang said that leisure industries could contribute to 50 percent of the country's GDP growth by 2030. By then, he said, 50 percent of people's incomes would be spent on leisure and consumption.
