Billion cards
China issued 3.53 billion bank cards by the end of 2012, Zhang Qi, an official with the National Golden Card Project, said at a recent seminar. The number of bank cards with the Union Pay logo reached 3 billion, accounting for 85.2 percent of the total. The project, launched in June 1993, aims to speed up the financial modernization of the country.
