China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation (CMC), established in 1950, is one of China's largest foreign trade enterprises.

Mainly engaged in import and export of machinery products, its accumulative trade volume since establishment stands at US$80 billion.

Over more than half a century's growth, its businesses have expanded from import and export of general products to executing projects abroad.

On the occasion of CMC's 55th anniversary of establishment, the corporation sincerely expresses its appreciation and greetings to all business partners and friends in Bangladesh.

CMC has successfully exported machinery and electronic products including weaving machines, paper mill machines, railway equipment and ships to Bangladesh.

Nowadays, the company is operating the Barapukuria Coal Mine Development Project and Barapukuria Coal-Fired Power Plant Project in Bangladesh.

As an undisputable pioneer in the country's coal mining industry, CMC is dedicated to diversification in Bangladesh's energy industry.

It entered into a contract with Petrobangla for the Barapukuria Coal Mine Development Project under Chinese supplier's credit in early 1994.

Through joint effort from both sides, the physical construction of the project, which started in mid 1996, was completed in June 2005, despite unforeseeable natural difficulties and impediments.

Today, the project enjoys an annual production capacity of 1 million tons of coal.

The successful development of Barapukuria Coal Mine by CMC is expected to lead to rapid growth of the Bangladesh coal mining industry, and realization of energy diversification in the country.

Based on progress at the Barapukuria Coal Mine, CMC was awarded a contract by the Bangladesh Power Development Board for the construction of Barapukuria 2X125 megawatts Coal-Fired Power Plant Project in July 2001.

After three years of construction since November 2002, the first unit was successfully put into operation and synchronized in mid November 2005, and the second in 2006.

Barapukuria Power Plant is the first coal-fired electricity generation project ever in the history of Bangladesh.

The successful implementation of the project will provide reliable energy to the northwestern regions of the country, playing an important role in the development of the Bangladesh economy.

CMC won the trust of its clients and signed the above projects mainly because of its outstanding strength in financing, project development, assessment and analysis, bidding and tendering, management, contractual risk control, quality and programme co-ordination, and budget and cost control.

In the future, CMC will continue to explore the international market with a flexible business approach.

Meanwhile, the company hopes to strengthen its partnership with Bangladesh and build a prosperous future based on mutual interests.
