Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said Thursday that India has no intention and nor will it participate in any containing-China strategy.

Singh also said that India will not allow Tibetans to conduct anti-China activities in the country. Singh made the remarks while meeting Chinese President Hu Jintao as the two leaders pledged to push forward ties between Asia’s two biggest countries.

The meeting between Hu and Singh took place after the fresh conclusion of the India-hosted annual BRICS leadership meeting, which also groups leaders from Brazil, Russia and South Africa. According to Chinese foreign ministry, Singh said that India acknowledges the Tibet is part of China, and India will not allow Tibetans to conduct anti-China activities in India.

"India is willing to joint efforts together with China to preserve the peace and stability of the border areas of the two countries, and solve their border dispute through peaceful negotiations," Singh told Hu.

The two leaders also declared 2012 as the year of India-China friendship and unveil initiatives to boost cultural exchanges and overall contacts.
