MOC denies releasing data on fleeing corrupt officials

BEIJING -?China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said here Sunday that it has never released any data on the country's corrupt officials fleeing abroad when commenting on recent media reports about the matter.

A number of media agencies recently reported that about 4,000 corrupt officials had fled the country with some $50 billion since the country's reform and opening-up in 1978, citing MOC data. One of the latest such reports was published by the Beijing-based Legal Mirror on Saturday.
The ministry has never investigated into the matter of fleeing corrupt officials, said the MOC official.
