Husband's blog records anger at wife's death

"My wife died because of the operation performed by doctors who even didn't get medical licenses. She was a victim of misdiagnosis."

These are words taken from the first post in a blog written by Wang Jianguo for his wife, Xiong Zhuowei, who died three years ago in what Wang believes were suspicious circumstances.

This entry, posted on May 16, 2007 and only three months after Xiong's death, quoted a letter Wang had written to the Peking University First Hospital in which he claims his wife had been "killed" by unlicensed doctors.

Wang also recorded in this entry Xiong's final words as, "I am dying! I am dying! Mum, help me."

On Wednesday, he added his most recent entry: "After 20 years spent with my love, only my lonely heart is left."

Xiong, 50, was a professor at the Peking University First Hospital. She died in her own hospital on Jan 31, 2006 from a pulmonary embolism.

Xiong was born in Wuhan, Hubei province on Mar 16, 1956. Her parents are well-known doctors in China and because of her own highly praised work at Wuhan Union Hospital, she was sent to receive further education in the Royal Children's Hospital of Melbourne in 1989. From 1999 onwards, she worked as a researcher in lipoprotein.

"She returned to China in 2004 and was ready to contribute all she had learned to China. But within two years, she had died in her own hospital. That's absurd," Wang told METRO yesterday.

"We don't have any children and I'm very lonely. But I have to continue my life because I must make the court recognize her death. I am extremely tired because I am also caring for her mother," Wang added.

Wang said two of his wife's research programs had received financial support from the National Nature Science Foundation of China, but were cancelled after her death.
