Nine-year-old Li Jun, a local primary school student, has been looking after her family for years ever since her father died three years ago and her mother left home.

Li wakes up before 6 am everyday to prepare breakfast for her four-member family that includes her brother and grandparent.

In the evening, Li washes clothes for all family members, feed the chickens and cook for the family. Li's family relies on a pension of about 300 yuan ($44).
