That will be the reality for about 1.2 million cars in 2016, when the new transmission plant is running at full capacity in Tianjin.

Each new model across the broad range of Volkswagen vehicles consumes up to 15 percent less fuel than its predecessor.

It is Volkswagen Group China's goal to offer the right drive system for each customer - from low consumption cars with combustion engines to plug-in hybrids and all-electric driving.

In the near future, the group will be offering Chinese drivers an impressive choice of more than 20 electric vehicles, from small cars to large sedans and SUVs ranging from plug-in hybrids to pure electric drive.

At the Auto Guangzhou 2014, the electric up! will be introduced to the market, followed by the e-Golf, Golf GTE and Audi A3 e-tron in 2015.

Starting in 2016, plug-in hybrid versions of the new Audi A6 and a new Volkswagen midsize limousine will be manufactured in China.

The electric vehicle lineup that Volkswagen Group will be offering Chinese drivers will focus on plug-in hybrid technology, which it views as having best potential in China in the short and midterm.

Hybrids combine pure electric driving and zero emissions in urban areas along with long-distance flexibility through an efficient combustion engine that result in lots of dynamics and driving fun.

The group delivered more than 3 million vehicles to Chinese customers in the first 10 months of this year, a 14 percent year-on-year increase.

For the entire year, the number is expected to surpass 3.6 million, which means double-digit growth over the previous year, the CEO said.
