As the pace of innovation in paper products in China quickens, investment in the market will diversify, according to a report by SEEC Research Institute.

The report said commercial banks used to be the lone investment option but now securities, insurance and fund investment companies will participate in the market. With the development of Internet paper businesses, individual investors will be an important area also.

By the end of last year, the accumulative value of commercial paper totaled 20.3 trillion yuan ($3.3 trillion)，while that at the end of 2001 was only 1.27 trillion yuan, according to the People's Bank of China.

Commercial paper, in the global financial market, is an unsecured promissory note with a fixed maturity of no more than 270 days.
