Chinese equities rallied nearly 2 percent Wednesday, on the US Federal Reserve's pledge to keep interest rates near zero for an extended period.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index advanced 1.93 percent or 57.64 points to close at 3,050.48 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed at 12,233.77 points, up 285 points, or 2.39 percent.

Combined turnover stood at 178.38 billion yuan ($26.12 billion), up from 121.56 billion yuan the previous trading day.
