There has been no heavy selling of Shenzhen property, despite a report that regulators are launching an investigation into the reasons for the southern Chinese city's rapidly rising housing prices, said an industry executive.

"We do not see any panic selling from individual property owners or developers so far. The market is calm to the news as individual buyers or sellers are not the target," Andy Lee, a general manager at Centaline (China) said. Centaline is a leading real estate company with its main base in Hong Kong.

Last week, it was reported that eight regulators and economic planners, including the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Land Resources and the National Development and Reform Commission, would investigate why cities such as Shenzhen saw double-digit rises in house prices last month.

But Lee added that buying sentiment could be affected if the government published names of developers that have flouted regulations.

Shenzhen recorded the highest new residential property price growth among first-tier Chinese cities with a 12.3 percent year-on-year gains last month.
