The championships include street, park, and Game of Skate events divided into adult and junior men's and women's categories. Eleven gold medals are up for grabs.
"Skateboarding is a symbol of youth, creativity, and courage," said Huang Qiang, president of World Skate Asia, at Wednesday's opening ceremony. "From the streets to the Olympic Games, from city squares to the pinnacle of Asian competition, this sport is surging forward with unstoppable momentum across the world."
