International students learn martial arts at Ningxia university
At the start of the new semester in March, Yinchuan University of Energy, in Yinchuan of Ningxia Hui autonomous region, launched a Chinese martial arts course for international students, offering a hands-on introduction to traditional culture.
The course is taught by university President Gu Chaozhong, who combines lectures with live demonstrations of key techniques. He guides students through fundamental movements, highlighting both the strength and elegance of Chinese martial arts.
A total of 27 students from 12 countries, including Russia, Turkmenistan, Nigeria, and Mongolia have enrolled. Training sessions include practicing horse stance and basic broadsword techniques, with students closely following each movement.
Participants describe the class as engaging and immersive, saying it not only improves physical fitness, but also provides a direct way to experience Chinese culture.
According to the university, the course is designed to enrich campus life and promote cultural exchange, using martial arts as a bridge to share traditional Chinese heritage with a global audience.
