US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Monday rejected a Financial Times?report claiming that Trump threatened to delay his China visit if Beijing does not assist the Strait of Hormuz escort operations. "If the meeting for some reason is rescheduled, it will be rescheduled because of logistics, and the president wants to remain in DC to coordinate the war effort," he said.
China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian also emphasized that head-of-state diplomacy plays an irreplaceable strategic guiding role in China-US relations, and the two sides remain in communication over a possible visit to China by US President Donald Trump.
