Ren Shuyuan: Finding fulfillment in practicing 'from the people, to the people'
Ren Shuyuan, a deputy to the National People's Congress from Baiquan county in Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, is affectionately called "Sister Gancai" (literally meaning Dried Vegetable Sister) by her fellow villagers.
Inspired by a casual conversation about bargaining over salt prices, she dedicated herself to helping local farmers on the path to prosperity.
Ren founded a specialized cooperative, turning homegrown vegetables into a new source of income.
As an NPC deputy, she stays connected to grassroots farmers to listen to their voices and has transformed aspirations from their fields into practical suggestions.
Her deep commitment to serving the people brings her the sense of fulfillment in practicing the principle of "from the people, to the people".
