Morten Bodskov, minister for industry, business and financial affairs of Denmark, said healthcare is a key area of Danish-Sino cooperation, hoping that technological innovation would serve as a bridge to deepen bilateral collaboration.

He said he hoped technological innovation would serve as a bridge to deepen whole-chain collaboration between the two countries in the research and development, production and clinical application of medical devices.

He was speaking during a China-Denmark medical device innovation exchange in Shanghai on Jan 29.

The innovation exchange conference also witnessed the official launch of the locally-produced single-use cystoscope in China by Ambu A/S, which has been transforming healthcare practices and improving patient outcomes for more than 85 years.

Serving as a key platform for collaboration in the healthcare sector between China and Denmark, the "CHINA-DENMARK Jointly Leading Sustainable Innovation & Advancement in Medical Technology" conference grouped representatives from government regulatory authorities, leading industry experts, and executives of multinational enterprises from both countries.

As the global creator and leader in single-use endoscopy solutions, Britt Meelby Jensen, CEO of Ambu A/S, delivered a keynote speech at the conference, elaborating on Ambu's global strategic objectives and its localization strategy of being "Rooted in China, Serving China".

She stressed that through local research and development, domestic production, and deep collaboration with clinical partners, Ambu is committed to aligning with the development direction of China's healthcare sector and providing innovative products that better meet the needs of patients in the Chinese market.

The participants engaged in in-depth discussions on collaboration in medical device innovation and pathways for sustainable development. All participants concurred that the collaboration will infuse the "Healthy China" initiative with international innovative momentum, while also providing a practical reference for high-quality and sustainable development in the global healthcare sector.

Professor Wu Jinglei, president of the Shanghai Medical Association, said Shanghai, as an international hub for medical innovation, will continue to adopt an open approach to attract premium global resources and promote the localized adaptation and implementation of transnational medical technologies.

It has been learned that centered on the dual pillars of "high-quality" and "sustainable", the conference served as a cross-sector communication platform connecting government, clinical practice, and the corporate sector.

Professor Jin Chunlin, director of the Shanghai Health Development Research Center, interpreted China's policies related to high-quality development in healthcare, outlining ample policy space for the localized innovation of multinational enterprises.

Jakob Skaarup Nielsen, executive director of the Danish Health Authority, shared Denmark's healthcare model and experience.

During the academic discussion session, Professor Zhang Hailiang, director of the Urology Department at Huadong Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, analyzed the core value of Ambu's aScope 4 Cysto single-use cystoscope from the perspective of clinical application scenarios, highlighting its significant contributions to improving diagnostic and treatment efficiency as well as reducing infection risks.

Casper Venbjerg Hansen, senior director of sustainability at Ambu, addressed the shared imperative for sustainable development within the global healthcare industry.
