Zhao Xia, deputy director of the Xichuan county culture, radio, television, and tourism bureau, described the expressway as a "milestone" for local development. "It has pressed the accelerator for Xichuan's cultural and tourism advancement," Zhao said at a news conference.
The segment of the expressway featuring the landmark bridge reduces travel time between Xichuan and Shiyan in Hubei from approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes to around 50 minutes.
The improved accessibility is expected to boost visits to attractions such as the Wudang Mountain and Danjiangkou Reservoir.
