The United States' arms sales to Taiwan and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's recent statement that a "Taiwan contingency" could constitute a "survival-threatening situation" for Japan have all been adding fuel to the fire. Will the cross-Strait situation actually become more dangerous in 2026?
