Humanoid robot to carry torch in Shenzhen relay
An open-source humanoid robot developed by Leju (Shenzhen) Robotics Co will become a torchbearer in the Shenzhen leg of the torch relay of the 15th National Games, according to the organizers.
The robot Kuavo is designed for household and industrial applications and is the first of its kind in China capable of jumping and walking on various terrains.
The list of torchbearers of the 15th National Games was announced by the organizers on Friday, two days ahead of the torch relay for the Games.
The list includes representatives of exemplary figures, grassroots frontline workers and sports professionals, as well as outstanding representatives from various sectors such as education, science and technology and culture and health.
It also features representatives from ethnic groups, democratic parties, non-partisan individuals, Taiwan compatriots, overseas Chinese and foreign nationals, according to the Games' organizers.
The torch relay for the Games will be simultaneously held on Sunday in four cities including Hong Kong, Macao, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, Guangdong province.
