Four Chinese villages were added to the list of Best Tourism Villages by the United Nations World Tourism Organization on Oct 17 during an awards ceremony in Huzhou, Zhejiang province, including Dongluo village in Xinghua city of Jiangsu province.

Dongluo village in Qianduo town is an ecological paradise carved by both water and duotian, a unique traditional agricultural system in the lake and swamp areas, with fields that are more than 1 meter above the water.

The village is located in the central area of Xinghua's duotian area, a globally significant agricultural cultural heritage site. It borders the world-renowned Qianduo Scenic Area to the east and is located nearby the dreamlike Lizhong Water Forest Scenic Spot.

In the process of development, Dongluo village has always adhered to the wisdom of harmonious coexistence between people, water, and duotian, and has explored a valuable path of mutual promotion and win-win between ecological protection and economic development.

The village not only retains the traditional farming techniques of duotian but has also set up an exhibition hall to systematically display traditional agricultural tools and immigrant historical materials.

In 2024, Dongluo village achieved a collective economic disposable income of 2.85 million yuan ($400,448), an increase of 5 percent. The per capita disposable income of villagers was 34,066 yuan, an increase of 8.1 percent.
