Mandarin Oriental Shenzhen unveiled "Colours of China", a new cocktail menu at the renowned MO Bar, in February. This inventive menu blends Chinese heritage, artisanal craftsmanship and modern mixology, with each cocktail inspired by traditional Chinese colors, the 24 solar terms and the history of Chinese printing.

Located on the 79th floor, MO Bar offers breathtaking city views and is celebrated for its bold creativity and refined elegance. With "Colours of China", the bar's award-winning team presents a cocktail experience that is both visually captivating and deeply cultural.

The menu features 16 handcrafted cocktails and mocktails, each tied to one of the 24 solar terms — a Chinese calendar system that marks nature's changing cycles. Divided into four seasonal sections, each section offers four uniquely crafted drinks, paired with specially selected seasonal bar bites.

"Our inspiration draws from China's rich color symbolism and the ancient art of printing," says Tiger Chang, head bartender at MO Bar. "Each cocktail is designed to embody a traditional color, a seasonal moment, and a distinctive flavor profile, creating an immersive experience where every sip tells a story."

"Colours of China" also honors China's legacy in printing, with the menu itself serving as a work of art. Modeled after movable-type printing, it features interactive acrylic pages and removable color panels, allowing guests to engage both visually and physically with the stories behind each drink.

"Just as ancient printing evolved through innovation and craftsmanship, we've applied the same principles to our cocktails, incorporating techniques like tea distillation, clarified juices, and edible color foams to offer something truly one-of-a-kind experience," Chang adds.
