The second season of Classics Quoted by Xi Jinping, a well-made television documentary series, hit the screens in Africa on Sunday.

The program, produced by the China Media Group, compiles the classical allusions that have been quoted by President Xi Jinping in his speeches and articles, and introduces Chinese wisdom in the classics.

It aims to help more people understand the charm of traditional Chinese culture, the code of success in the governance of China in the new era, and the spiritual origin of the Chinese path to modernization.

The series' second season has been translated into English, French, Arabic, Hausa, Swahili and other languages.

According to reports by the China Global Television Network, in the second season of Classics Quoted by Xi Jinping, multilingual hosts and international experts embark on a journey into the heart of Chinese society. They delve deep into the grassroots and ordinary households, offer diverse perspectives from both the East and the West and tell the stories of individuals who continuously pursue China's modernization.

Since Sunday, the documentary is being broadcast by 62 leading media outlets in 38 African countries, including South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria.

An event was also held on Sunday in Johannesburg, South Africa, to celebrate the program's launch in multiple languages. A number of prominent figures from China and Africa attended the event.

Paul Shipokosa Mashatile, deputy president of South Africa's governing African National Congress party and the country's vice-president, and Lechesa Tsenoli, deputy speaker of the South African National Assembly, delivered written and video congratulatory speeches, respectively.

They said that the broadcast of the documentary plays an important role in helping African countries learn from President Xi's wisdom in governance and understand what is behind the changes in China in the new era.

Guests attending the event included Shen Haixiong, president of China Media Group, Nkosazana Clarice Dlamini Zuma, minister in the South African presidency responsible for women, youth and people with disabilities, and Chen Xiaodong, Chinese ambassador to South Africa.

During the 15th BRICS Summit, which is to be held in Johannesburg from Tuesday to Thursday, the Hindi and Tamil versions of the documentary will be broadcast by Indian media.
