After spending 10 days at home with his family during the Spring Festival holiday, Li Chenghong was ready to take a chartered train back to his workplace, about 1,100 kilometers from his hometown in Bijie, Guizhou province.

The high-speed train will depart for Guangzhou, the capital city of Guangdong province, on Tuesday, carrying about 610 workers.

"Making more money is my biggest wish after the Spring Festival," said Li, adding that his wife will also return to work at a garment factory near his home.

Li, 40, will return to work at a construction site in Jiangmen, Guangdong, after the chartered train arrives at Guangzhou South Railway Station on Tuesday afternoon.

Labor authorities of Guangdong and Guizhou say they will organize more chartered trains and buses to help workers return to their workplaces in the prosperous Pearl River Delta region.

Also, Guangdong's first chartered high-speed train, carrying 618 workers from the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, arrived at Guangzhou South Railway Station on Sunday.

"I really want to return to work as soon as possible, as orders have increased a lot," said a 29-year-old worker surnamed Duan from Guilin, Guangxi, who works for an electronics component company in the Baiyun district of Guangzhou.

Guangxi has become major labor source for Guangdong, with more than 6 million workers from the region working in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area annually, according to the local human resources authority.

Passenger flows from Guangxi and Guizhou to Guangdong have increased significantly after the Spring Festival holiday, railway authorities said.
